Water Requirement for Row Crop (Close Spaced)
Volume of water in lit/day/m2= PE X PCX KC
Volume of water in lit/day dripper= Dripper to dripper spacing X lateral to lateral spacing X PE X PC X PC
Example:
Find out the W.R for tomato having 30 cm X 45 cm X 60 cm. Pan evaporation of the region is 7 mm/ day. Assume crop factor and pan factor.
Solution:
i) Volume of water in lit/day/m2
= 7 X 0.7 X 0.8= 3.92
ii) Volume of water in lit/day/dripper
= 0.60 X 1.05 X 7 X 0.7 X 0.8
= 2.46
iii) Calculate the quantity of water required in m3 per hectare per day for banana using following data:
i) Spacing between the plants and row= 1.5X1.5 m
ii) Pan evaporation = 10 mm /day
iii) Pan factor = 0.70
iv) Crop coefficient = 1.0
v) % wetted area= 60
W.R = 1.5 X 1.5 X10 X 0.70 X 1.0 X 0.60
= 9.45 lit/day/plant
No of plant = 1000 /1.5X 1.5= 4445
Qty of water= 4445 X 9.45
= 42000 lit/day/ha.
=42 m3 / day/ ha.
