Detection of Addition of Starch in Milk
To detect addition of starch
Iodine solution gives intense blue colour with starch due to formation of an unstable complex starch ode compound.
ii) 1 % Iodine solution.
1. Take about 3 ml of well mixed milk in a test tube.
2. Boil the milk over a burner.
3. Cool and add on drop of 1 % iodine solution and observe the colour.
4. Presence of blue or bluish violet colours indicates the presence of starch / central flours added in milk.
