Uses of Coffee:
1. Used as beverage and helps the people suffering from malformation.
2. Taking coffee half to one cup per day over comes Kwashiorkar disease caused by protein deficiency in 20 days.
3. Counter effects the skin disease ‘Pellagra" which is caused by deficiency of vitamin ‘Mlacin.’
Area and Production:
Karaatake accounts for 60% of the total area under coffee, Kerala ranks second contributing 21 % area and Tamil Nadu third accounting 18%, A.P., M.S., Orissa, Assam and West Bengal accounts for 1 per cent. At present, Coffee is grown on an area of 1,55,306 ha and production is 1,09,780 tonnes. .
